FESTIVAL STYLE PRINT DRESS DESIGN

I have decided to use festival influences for my recycling project. This is a design for a simple dress using the influence of Katharine Hamnett and Vivienne Westwood's t-shirt prints (that can be found on my blog).

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

Vivienne Westwood may be one of the most prestige British Designers, renowned throughout the world, but she is very eco-conscious. She only uses organic and fair-trade materials, also donates a mass amount of money to global charities (including 1.6 million pounds to the charity 'Cool Earth').

KATHARINE HAMNETT

Katharine Hamnett is an English fashion designer best known for her political t-shirts and her ethical business philosophy. In the early to mid-1980s Hamnett's oversized t-shirts with large block letter slogans, launched in 1983, were adopted by many pop bands.

LYNDA GROSE

When Lynda Grose became a head designer at the Esprit clothing company back in 1989, anti-sweatshop campaigns were in their infancy and some of the first organic cotton was being harvested in Turkey. In 1990, Esprit launched a campaign against overconsumption with ads counseling magazine readers to "buy only what you need". That same year, the San Francisco-based company launched their E-collection- the first completely green clothing line from a major manufacturer.

STELLA MCCARTNEY

Stella Mccartney released her eco-fashion range in mid 2009, she decided to be eco friendly by using recycled fabrics and low impact dyes. She decided to use organic materials to help fair-trade groups.

NANCY JUDD

Public artist and environmental educator Nancy Judd creates couture recycled fashion designs from basically rubbish. Her elegant fashion sculptures stimulate conversation, action and education about sustainable living.

GARY HARVEY

Gary Harvey is a visionary leader and creator of recycled clothes and unusual fashion materials. He has shocked the world with his use of non-traditional use of fabrics and recycled materials to make into garments.
